Library Policies
Backpacks and handbags
To protect the security of the library and its contents, un-attended personal bags, purses, backpacks, and briefcases will be removed and sent to the Security office.
- Please take these items with you if you are leaving your study area for more than a brief period of time. [15 minutes]
- If you will be back in a few minutes please leave a note with the time so we do not send your belongings to Security.
Cell phone use in the library
The Library is committed to providing an environment that is conducive to study.
- Please set phones/pagers to vibrate or silence while in the library.
- Please step outside the library when taking or making your calls.
- Please take your belongings with you, if you step outside the library.
Food & drink guidelines
- Food is prohibited.
- Drinks in containers with covers are allowed in the library.
- Please dispose of your containers.
Unattended children in the library
Children who are not enrolled in approved University classes or activities may not be left alone anywhere on campus. The safety and security of children is very important and is the responsibility of the parent or adult caregiver. Library staff cannot assume responsibility for children when they are left unattended in the library.
- A child not yet in high school must be under the direct supervision of an adult at all times while in the library.
- A parent or other adult caregiver must monitor all activities and behavior of their children while they are in the library.
- A parent or other adult caregiver is responsible for any damage to property done by the child.
- Library computers are restricted to use by enrolled students, faculty, and staff for research and course assignments.
- If a child is left unattended in the library, staff will notify Security.
