Accessing databases from AOL
Though America Online might be easy to use, the web browser has a hard time accessing the library's databases. The reason is that AOL's web browser is not a real web browser and cannot handle the advanced protocols that most databases and websites use. To access the library's databases using AOL:
- Sign on to AOL as you normally do.
- Once signed on, minimize AOL by clicking the minimize button in the upper left corner of the AOL window.
- Then launch Internet Explorer.
- Once the browser is launched, access the library at http://library.stritch.edu
Please note that the library cannot trouble shoot any access problems you might experience when using AOL.
