Printing on campus

How do I print on campus?

You will need an active University network account in order to print from the University's public computers. Use of another person's network account is a violation of University policy.

At the beginning of each term (fall, spring, and summer), each student is allocated a print quota of 400. Print quotas allow the University to better manage printing expenses.

Printing from computers in the University's computer labs should be seamless, until, of course, you reach the limit of your printing quota.

Why must I logoff University computers?

Your print quota is tied to your account and if you leave it “open” others may use up your print quota.  You are responsible for any failure to logoff and any resulting depletion of your print quota.

What is my print quota?

Each registered student is allocated 400 prints at the start of each term (fall, spring, and summer). If you use your allotment before the end of the semester, you can purchase additional pages at 10¢a page ($1.00 minimum).

How to save paper when you print.

How do I check my printing balance on a Windows PC?

Check your printing balance by double-clicking the Wbalance icon ($) in the system tray on the far bottom right of the computer task bar. A window will appear showing your current balance.

How do I check my printing balance on a Macintosh?

Print balances cannot be viewed on a Macintosh.

How do I purchase additional print credit?

You can purchase additional prints from designated staff at the library, main computer lab, student development desk, and PC support during operating hours.

When are the print quotas updated?

Print quotas are refreshed at the beginning of each term (fall, spring, and summer) with 400 pages. The quota will be loaded the first day of each term period and removed at the end of the last day prior to the start of the next term period. Term periods end on the December graduation day, the May graduation day and August 15.

Does this print quota pertain to all printing I do on campus?

No. Only to printing done in an open lab, classroom, library, or other public computing location at a University facility.

Printing done in University offices is not part of the print management system and will not affect your print quota. In special cases where you are asked to work in a lab, consult with your supervisor in advance and track the pages printed against your quota. Arrangements can be made to reimburse your personal printing quota.

What happens to my printing balance at the end of each term period?

Only unused prints that were PURCHASED will be rolled over to the next term period. The balance left from the 400 per-term prints provided at the beginning of each term period are erased when the quotas are reset for the next semester. Quotas will be reset on fall graduation day, spring graduation day, and August 15th.

What happens to my printing balance when I graduate?

No later than the end of the last week of school or exam week prior to fall or spring graduation, unused prints that were PURCHASED will be available for refund. Requests that arrive at other future dates will not be honored. Please fill out a refund request form with designated staff in the Library, Main Computer Lab, Student Development desk, and PC Support areas during their operating hours

What do I do if I have a problem printing and am charged for it?

You are responsible for your print jobs. If you send a print job more than once, or print a very long document without realizing it, you are still responsible for the printing charges.

You can request that prints be added back to your Pcounter account for a limited set of print related problems. Forms will be available in most public print locations.

Physical evidence of the problem is required to receive this benefit. Acceptable print problems are smudged, faded, streaked, spotty, bent, or jammed printouts. Complete a problem report form and deliver it to designated staff in the library, main computer lab, student development desk, or PC support areas. Not all issues can be resolved on the spot, so make sure contact information is provided. Other printing errors such as typos, editing or formatting issues, intended or un-intended extra copies, or blank sheets/nearly blank sheets that are part of a print job, do not qualify.

Where can I print in color and what does it cost?

Color printing is available in the computer lab in Bonaventure Hall. Five (5) pages are deducted from the P-Counter for each page printed on the color printer.
