About holds and requests
Through the library catalog you can request an item be held for you.
- You can request books, videos, and any other circulating item
- You can request items from other SWITCH libraries
- You can request (place a recall and a hold) on items currently checked out to other patrons
- You can request items be held for you for pick up at a SWITCH library closer to you
- Off-campus students can have items mailed to them
- You can request articles from journals not owned by CSU but owned by other SWITCH libraries
Why request an item
- Item is checked out by another patron
- Item is not at CSU, but is at another SWITCH library
- You would like to pick up items at a SWITCH library closer to you
- You are an off-campus student
Instructions
- Find the item in the library catalog.
- Click on the REQUEST button at the top left of the screen.
- Answer the prompts. (Provide your last name and barcode).
- Provide article information when requesting an article.
- Choose a pickup location. It can be the 'Stritch lib hold shelf' or any other library closer to you. You can only choose 'Stritch off campus delivery' if you are an off-campus student.
- Click submit.
- Select an available item.
- Click 'request selected item'.
- Items are usually delivered to a SWITCH library within 2 days. For books,
videos, etc. (but not articles), you will receive a notice in your CSU email
when it arrives at a SWITCH library.
Items mailed to your home are at the mercy of the postal system.
