Research Consultation
Available for CSU students, faculty and staff
A research consultation is a one-on-one appointment with a librarian for extensive, in-depth research assistance. If you need more help than can be provided at the reference desk, or from the live chat with a librarian service, a research consultation appointment may be the right option for you. We will do our best to match you with a librarian who has some expertise in the subject area of your research.
During a Research Consultation a librarian can:
- Help you formulate a research strategy
- Demonstrate effective searches in the library catalog
- Suggest strategies for searching specific databases
- Help you search the Web for relevant and reliable information
- Explain how to gain access to material held at other libraries
Appointments are generally scheduled between 8:30 am through 5:30 pm Monday through Friday, but exceptions may be made if there are extenuating circumstances. We will attempt to accommodate distance learners by providing consultations via telephone, online chat or email.
Note to Instructors: Due to time and staffing constraints, we cannot accommodate entire classes signing up for Research Consultation appointments. If your class needs assistance, please arrange for group library instruction by contacting your department’s library liaison. Contact Us.
