Cardinal Stritch University Library and its staff provide the resources and services necessary to support the University curriculum and to prepare students to live and work in the information age. Skills in locating, evaluating and using information effectively, commonly referred to as “information literacy,” are vital, not only for success in classroom and degree programs, but also for future success as global employees, life-long learners and responsible citizens.
The library achieves its mission and meets the information needs of our traditional and non-traditional students, faculty, and staff through:
- providing a welcoming, inclusive, and collaborative physical space and the necessary equipment to foster individual and group study
- collecting, organizing, and providing resources, in varying formats, to supplement course curriculum and support research assignments
- creating friendly, skilled, and efficient access services
- supporting research and the use of resources through online and in-person reference assistance
- providing classroom instruction through all stages of the research process; from selecting a topic, to finding college-level research, evaluating sources, and citing them appropriately
- developing online learning modules, research guides, and tutorials for use in campus LMS
- promoting information literacy so that students become responsible, ethical and knowledgeable information creators and consumers
